Colorful Eggs

I've always loved decorating eggs. I mean, who doesn't? Normally I just decorate them the "normal" way by dying them. This year, however I tried something new: Drawing with sharpies on eggs.

Shaylynn gave me the idea (check out her eggs, they are gorgeous!!). So, Easter Sunday I blew some eggs and grabbed some sharpies. Let me tell you, it is addicting.

The eggs I decorated are mixed in with our Ukrainian eggs.

Be careful though...They are delicate. As I was drawing on this one I dropped it and I grabbed it so hard I smashed it. Ain't I smart?

This one is my favorite. It took me over an hour. I smeared the marker a lot to create a marbled look. Here are some work in progress shots:

Three Crosses

Happy Easter! I hope everyone's Easter was amazing! Mine was great. Part of me can't believe it's Easter already but it also feels like Lent lasted forever. Anyhow, I digress.

Ever since I was little I loved drawing. When I was around 6, I started drawing a picture for my dad everyday which I would give to him when he came home for work. I use to drew all the time. But alas, through the years when one gets busy certain things are dropped. Sadly, I just didn't draw as much as I got older. I wouldn't draw for fun or anything. However, I got interested in starting to sketch again, late last year. So finally, last month when I was at the craft store I found my way to the art section but a sketchbook and some drawing pencils. And there we have it. I've been drawing none stop since.

On Good Friday, after getting back from Church, I got out my sketchbook and colored pencils and I drew the three crosses.

"Three crosses stand on top of Calvary, the tragic hill, and remind us of a detail of the great drama related by St. John: "There they crucified him and with him two others, one on each side and Jesus in the Middle.~John: 18/19

I'm fairly happy with my drawing. I only spent about an hour on it, so it's not perfect. I am not happy with my grass, I started out nicely but I kinda lost patience and got lazy. You HAVE to have much patience to draw grass, let me tell you. I also tried lettering! And a Celtic knotwork-ish border. My words seem to close together on the bible quote...:P Oh well. Like I said, fairly happy. :)

On the tenth day of Christmas...

I'm sorry for going for a while without posting again...one of New Years  resolutions ought to be to try and post more often. :)

Well, here we are. It's the tenth day of Christmas. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Mine was lovely, to be sure. I can't believe the twelve days of Christmas are almost over! Epiphany is on Friday. The week before Christmas I couldn't believe it was almost Christmas. And now it's over. Wow.

I got many great gifts, including a metal stamping kit! I haven't been able to use it yet, but I can't wait. I'm just annoyed because it didn't come with any instructions. *rolls eyes*

I also redid my room! I painted it (with much help from my mom :) a really pretty seafoam blue (it was a very dark blue before, which made it look like a cave) it really lightened the room up. I'll be posting before/after pictures soon. Stayed tuned!

Christ has risen! Alleluia!

Last night I went to the Easter vigil. I love the Easter vigil! Last year was my first year to go, and it was amazing. My favorite part is when we sing the Gloria for the first time since Lent began. It's dark and hushed. And all the sudden the lights come flashing on and we stand and sing the Gloria. Beautiful. I always cry at this part.

Now we get to say the Regina caeli!

Regina caeli V. Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia. R. Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia. V. Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia. R. Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia. V.
